The wire contains two, five or six twisted pairs of 22 American Wire Gage (AWG) copper conductors. The insulated conductors are located independently of the galvanized steel support wire. A black, weather-resistant plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket is applied over the core and support wire, yielding a "figure 8" cross-section.
